I have not finished reading this wonderful and amazing book just yet but I am so intrigued I had to go ahead and post a review. I have watched many of his YouTube videos and he is an incredible teacher. I have learned and understood more in this past year then I have the whole previous 50 years of my life about Jesus The Christ, God The Father, and, of course, the Governor....The Holy Spirit. I have finally learned the true reason why we are here what we should be doing while we are here and all about the Kingdom!

This book was truly a blessing to me. It was not religious but very practical. I'm just learning about the concept of the kingdom of God, and how we ought to live as ambassadors representing heaven, and I'm just so enlightened and enriched. I would recommend this and all other books by Dr. Munroe to all who have a desire to truly experience heaven on earth.

An Absolute Necessity

If you use Pathfinder Pawns, this is a must-have item. In fact, I'm going to buy a second one!

It has a great variety of common animals and monsters, especially really important ones that have been oddly neglected in other sets, like horses and ponies.

Also, the new huge elementals look frakking amazing! Seriously, I want to write them into my next adventure just to have those big beautiful bastards on the tabletop.

The art is, on average, also larger and easier to see than previous sets. Great job, Paizo.

If you are new to Pathfinder Pawns and don't know where to start, here's what I recommend:

1) Monster Codex
2) NPC Codex
3) Summon Monster
4) Bestiary Box 1

These four will give you a solid base of almost everything you need. Everything else you get after that will add variety and zest to your pawn collection.

Wish I had this when I was in school!

If you can only buy one book to help your high school or college student succeed, this is it. The author breaks everything down into digestible pieces of information and offers advice that is relevant and up to date. The writing style is conversational - not textbook-ish. Therefore, not only parents will love this book, but teens too.
I gave my 16 year old niece this book and she loves it - she sat on my bed reading it for almost an hour, sharing tips with me ("It says not to go to class hungry. Uh oh, I always do that") I think coming from her mom, she would have blown off the same advice. This example could be repeated in every chapter. The advice on being prepared, note taking, extra credit, tips for studying, and time management is invaluable. If the suggestions in the book are put into practice, it can literally the tipping point going from B's and C's to straight A's. And... kids will enjoy the process more.

Everything Guide: Highly Recommended

A terrific guide, essentially a semester long study skills course presented in one coherent package. I especially like the author's introductory note that "success is being the best student you in particular can be," even or especially if that means a B. I see students at all levels benefiting from the book. The author, clearly passionate about her subject matter, provides strategic advice about how to create productive relationships with teachers, manage time, read a text and take notes, test preparation and test taking skills, writing essays from start to finish (including research), and advice about clubs and volunteering and on-line learning. I found this to be a smart, all in one book that will improve students' abilities and performance. Having taught and advised for a lot of years, I highly recommend.

In The Everything Guide to Study Skills, Cynthia Muchnick gives expert advice. As a veteran educator, she has the tools and resources to prepare students for the learning journey. The 19 chapters contain all of the essentials needed to succeed in school. The first chapter, “School is Your Job,” explains how school is analogous to a workplace, reminding students that first impressions are lasting, and while “pleasing the boss,” is important, they must also be their own advocates. The detailed chapters on taking standardized tests and writing essays are especially relevant, and there’s even a section on the most common grammar and usage errors! From time management, to selecting the right classes, to strategically choosing a seat in the classroom, to note taking, this book is full of practical, common sense advice for the motivated (and not-so-motivated-but-needs-a-poke) learner!

About the Author
Laura van den Berg's first collection of stories, What the World Will Look Like When All the Water Leaves Us, was a Barnes & Noble "Discover Great New Writers" selection. Her second collection of stories, The Isle of Youth, won the Rosenthal Family Foundation Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and The Bard Fiction Prize, and was named a "Best Book of 2013" by over a dozen venues, including NPR, The Boston Globe, and O, The Oprah Magazine. Both collections were shortlisted for the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award. The recipient of a 2014 O. What did I just read?

I'm not even mad that I wasted $13 and a part of two days. Nothing ... absolutely nothing makes any sense. It's as if the author got incredibly stoned and began scribbling on the walls. The apocalypse? Stupid. Don't let that hook you. The author attempts to reel in a story about this mystery disease killing Americans, but never lands it. Is it truly an apocalypse if the disease only affects Americans? There is no resolution. None. Actually there is nothing to resolve. Just a bunch of ramblings about what the subject remembers. 'I remember the sky was purple and I was craving ice cream. A puppy whined in the distance and a blue whale was on tv.' Okay, that's not an actual quote from the book, but it could've been. Utterly stupid through and through.

The book could also use an editor. There is an entire paragraph describing a man with 'their'. Their hair, their posture. Other nitpicky items throughout that I wouldn't normally mention: however the story is so bad (so, so bad), the errors blazed from the pages.

Hit and miss

I bought this book after reading a review on the Culture section of BBC News. Find Me was listed as one of the best books for 2015 and I was intrigued. Intrigue turned to despair. I struggled to retain any real interest for the main character in the second part of the book and failed to buy into the storyline of her journey after the hospital. Some of the writing is beautiful, but excellent prose is not enough for me if the plot and characters fail to connect.

If memory defines who we are, then what does it mean if it's gone?

If you are looking for your typical, sci-fi, plot-driven dystopian novel, you have come to the wrong place. The mind-destroying disease that begins the apocalyptic degradation of society only acts as a backdrop in "Find Me," and rightly so. This book isn't about the politics, religion, or even culture behind humanity when it reaches its breaking point--instead, it pinpoints its focus to a singular character, fighting not for survival (as many of the characters in this ravaged world, in fact, have turned their backs on) but instead for a meaning in a world that is not, for her, entirely different from what she had experienced before the sickness. That meaning comes in the form of self-exploration, and a desperate attempt at unearthing her own identity with more hope for success than those she watches succumb to a deadly, memory-erasing fate.

I want to address the criticism I've seen in reviews about the book, which actually pushed me to buy it in the first place. I love Laura Van Den Berg's writing style, and know it's not for everyone. But many of reviewers that complain about the book's lack of plot, movement, and answers I feel might have been skimming and not really reading. I never got the sense that "nothing" happened--things were constantly happening, in the form of unusual, moody scenes that either fleshed out the main character Joy's past or pushed the plot forward perfectly. Certainly there are questions posed that don't always have direct answers, but like any good story, you have to look for them--they aren't just handed to you on a silver platter. Additionally, many of the things left up to interpretation, either because of Joy's ignorance to the situation or unreliable narration, I found more interesting to ponder to myself long after the book ended.

Finally, there is the switch in scenery as Joy moves from the Hospital she is kept in to the roadways on a trip to find her mother. Which section the reader likes better is entirely up to the reader themselves; I liked both parts of the story equally. I will say that the mysterious and seemingly too-good-to-be-true appearance of one of the most important characters mid-way through should not be looked at as a deux ex machina on the part of the author. Remember that this a story in which memory and perception, according to Joy herself, are not necessary accurate, and we as readers should treat all of the experiences she has, in and out of the Hospital, as merely that--experiences, and not always the hard truth.
