If You like WMD .... Ooh, and Religion

Genius 'military' type, who's 500(?) yrs old, is a merc, gets job saving angels and .... Does he get it done? Can't say, would be a spoiler. But I can say is the story is about a very old, sad, repetitive occurrence of man, religion and war. With way too much religion for me.

Reading this frustrated me a bit as I look for mil SciFi and I get a story where someone watched a few movies or read some books for their military insights. The inconsistencies just pile up -- don't believe author knows difference between a fire tm, squad, platoon and I'll stop there. He threw in 'cool' weapons but in doing so created inconsistency. The method genius uses to counter a million to 1 disadvantage is ... Disheartening --- NBC. And this has a lot of religious overtones thru out. The good guys use WMD? Come on. And MC has robotic pillboxes and a host of other weapons, if intelligently applied to counter 'threat'. Nuke em!

I got confused to 'his universe' as author used planets, implying origin of characters but then characters had earth type accents and just switched around from Florida to Texas to Planet X, Y, Z.

Amazon special at $0.0 and can't recommend to spend money to go any further. The one question by the end -- are the angels really Angels.

Not My Cup Of Tea--but may appeal to others.

It is difficult to write a review of a book when you are clearly not the intended audience. Objectively, the author has skills and the offering is well edited. There is a strong Christian undercurrent to the plot that it is well done. The military aspects of the book lacked any punch, the characters were extremely one dimensional and if you are looking for standard military science fiction this is not your cup of tea. If you are looking for a G rated, over simplified, pro religion, Obama is the bad guy type of read (the 'evil' race is named Amabo) -- I recommend the read. I gave the book 4 stars for the solid editing and the author's skill at descriptive prose. I took one star away for the unrealistic dialog. I will not be purchasing any other offerings from this author--but I can certainly understand how this style might appeal to others.

A suspenseful read!

A very good novel with an intriguing plot. Rich and religious Belen Morganthal hires soldier of fortune Logan Ryvenbark to do the impossible: Defend a non-violent rustic race on a distant planet against about two million sub-human warriors who want to exterminate the peaceful race. The twist comes as Belen believes the Aristolans are perfect. They are a race that never fell and are sinless. Ryvenbark is less concerned about the Aristolans' state of grace than in keeping them alive. One piece of evidence for Belen's contention is an Aristolan friend who seems to be...well, perfect - a beautiful innocent. The plot details how Ryvenbark plans to save the Aristolans and if they are really a race that never fell. There are twists and turns and surprises -most of them nasty - for the commander and his squad. As expected, there is a fight to the death battle. The first chapter is superbly written and draws the reader in. Even if this is military science fiction, most of the characters in Ryvenbark's squad are distinctive and three dimensional characters. At the novel's end the reader is still wondering about the Aristolans, even though he is impressed by them. Think the last third of the book got slightly away from the authors, as happens some times in novels but, nonetheless, this is an intriguing, exciting novel. Another plus is the characters are often witty so there are any number of funny lines. If you enjoy action and science fiction you should definitely read this novel.

I love success, and I love to see people happy. Too often though, as a trial consultant working side by side with attorneys in business litigation, I saw failure and unhappiness. As I explored the inner workings of businesses to better do my job, I observed a remarkably consistent equation: happy employees lead to increased productivity and profits. Unhappy employees lead to decreased productivity and profits--and sometimes, unfortunately, even to employee lawsuits.

Contrary to the opinion of many bosses and managers, happiness for most employees is not goofing off or getting paid to do nothing. Happiness is being appreciated. Happiness is a business demonstrating through words and actions, that employees matter. That is the true meaning of appreciation: knowing that you count, you are important.

It was thrilling to me, as I did the research for this book, to see how appreciating employees (and vendors and others) contributes enormously to business success: measurable success in terms of actual dollars, profitable innovations and growth. The book is filled with real-world examples of companies that have figured out the secret value of appreciation and benefited mightily from it.

Great book for people who would like to learn more about retail store layout and display. After reading a few pages, I realized just how little I knew about merchandising. I will be learning much more than I ever thought. Our store front windows already have changed and our customers love them!

Farmer illustrates that the basic ideological underpinnings that have driven the Bush administration that have generally been viewed by Europeans as exceptional, have been present in American politics since its earliest colonial beginnings with the Puritans and been carried forward by the ideological descendants of the Puritans from that time through the present. In essence, the form of American conservative exceptionalism exhibited during the Bush administration was present in American politics from the very beginning and has continued through the present, albeit in a more extreme form since the traditional ideological conservatives currently dominate all three branches of the American government and the terror attacks of 9/11 allowed them to garner popular support for their exceptional programs. 'The remarkable electoral record of the Conservative Party in the Twentieth Century has not been matched by a corresponding level of academic interest. This relative neglect has left important gaps in our knowledge of post-war British political history. For example, the governments of Harold Macmillan and Alec Douglas-Home (1957-64) are often misunderstood. Popular memories of this period are dominated by the Profumo Affair and the satire boom of the early 1960s, which gave the impression of a Conservative Party which was out of touch with social change. Stuart Mitchell's important study will help to revise this dominant impression. Drawing on all the main primary sources, he shows that the Conservatives were accutely aware of the challenges of modernity. Indeed, many of their problems arose from their various attempts to adapt to social and economic change. Mitchell presents an engrossing account of the struggle between 'modernisers' and more traditional figures within the party. Amazing and Wonderful Book!

Having personally been close friends with Ingo Swann for many, many years, I can say that he is a most amazing man! I helped to proof read the 'Secrets of Power' books One & Two and his powerful book 'Reality Boxes and Other Black Holes in Human Consciousness'. They are all incredible and wonderful books! Ingo is a scientist and a metaphysical genius and I am honored to know him. I recommend all of his books for study and for people to just reread the 'Secrets of Power' books volumes One and Two and his book 'Reality Boxes and Other Black Holes in Human Consciousness' when possible. Ingo has told me in the past that to truly retain the information in a book, that it is important to read the book three times...once to yourself in a whisper or low voice and two times to yourself. The brain captures the information clearly and retains the memory easier. An old metaphysical method I recall from the 1970's is as we read a book, we may want to try reading the book in three ways per page. Once to yourself, then repeat in a low or whispered voice, and again to yourself, but while focussing clearly on the words you are reading, which helps to get a mental picture of the pages as you read them. Also, people can gain intuitive information by having a book near them as they sleep. Ingo Swann is on the planet at this time for a reason and his insights and intuitive information is staggering! He is the father of 'Remote Viewing' and coined the name for the original studies. No one on the planet surpasses his accuracy in 'Remote Viewing' either. Just intuitively 'tune into' Ingo and his name, or look at any photograph of him and you may understand what I am saying. He is a gifted Master Visionary, a most incredibly Cosmic man and a fine Inspirational artist. May your intuition guide you always on your path to joy, truth, wisdom and understanding. Great book for learning about anything

Ingo Swann writes in a style I appreciate. He builds his case or argument from the bottom-up, defines terms and even tracks the history of words to ensure one gets the meaning. All this makes for effective communication. Most authors of "non-fiction" can't even manage that, precisely because they are caught by the same reality boxes as their readers.
This book is a part of a loose series and breaks the concept of reality boxes down into chunks, all in aid of helping the reader understand how this phenomena affects all of us. This understanding is meant to take along as a basis for getting the net book in the series.
One would probably have to start the series at the beginning to get the most out of this book, but the book is self-contained.
All books in the "Secrets f Power" series are recommended, but only for those who really want to know.

It does indeed provide the reader with the knowledge to influence behavior in children and adults with disabilities and/or challenging behavior.
